OH NO!! I'VE GOT A TEAR IN MY RETINA !!!

I've got a tear in my retina! I had floaters in my left eye since Mar this year. They never go away and is in my vision 24/7! I have a lot of tiny black dots formed in a circle around my eye and two interlinking circles in the middle of my vision. It's kinda of like having a drop of water on my glasses. It's so very irritating. Sometimes I mistakes the black ones for small flying insects and I try to wave them away.

At first my GP thought I had burst my tiny blood vessels caused by my hard and prolonged coughing, I had bronchitis and asthma for 6 continuous months! But the floaters did not go away, I had it for 6 months and finally went to see a eye specialist. He told me I had a tear in my retina and it is causing me to see floaters. The tear is not caused by too much coughing or too much eye rubbing. It is not caused by a deficiency of any nutrient. Myopic people are just more prone to having tear in the retina, the doc told me. I have never of it from any bespectacled people I know! I think not many of us know about it but it is true, I went to check it in the internet. I so "shuay" lor, it just have to happen to me! As if I don't have enough medical problems already! For those who know me, you know what I mean!

Anyway, I have to go for lazer retinoplexy, a type of lazer treatment to seal the tear. If it is not seal, the tear will get bigger and becomes detached, that will be detached retina. That will cause blindness.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO PRAYED FOR ME. THANK YOU LORD FOR BEING WITH ME.

I had the lazer done on Tuesday at TTSH. It set me back by $500. It was rather painful and the pain radiates to the left side of my head. But that, I could put up, it was the doctor that I could not stand!

There was a sign outside the room stating that cell phones are not allowed within 20m of machines. Guess what, when he was fixing the lens on my eyes, his mobile rang and he answered it with one hand still holding the lens that was kind of stuck on my eye! I was in that awkard position for a couple of minutes while he yakked on his mobile! He is so so lacking in bedside manners! He didn't even inform me when he started zapping my eye. After the procedure, gel was flowing down my face and he didn't pass me a tissue nor did he asked me whether I was alright. He happily asked me to follow him out of the room with me desperately trying to clean my eye and face with a tissue that I had managed to grab on the way out!

I was in distress cos I could not open my left eye due to the gel and all he wanted was to get me to make an appt to see him next Tues and pay up! After giving the instruction to the nurse, he happily went off! He did not even give me any instructions and I still have to pay him for consultation on top of the lazer! It's simply ridiculous!!

Anyway, I rested for a couple of days and went back to work today. It was terrible! The moment I reached the office, I started to get a headache. Both my temples throbbed the whole day. I guess the office lights are too bright for me. I hope I'll be fine by next Mon.

Both my parents have macular degeneration in one eye. There is a big black spot in the middle of their vision. Thank God they still have one good eye so they can still see well.

Just wanna advise this - if you have myopia, pls start taking supplement for your eyes - bilberry, lutein, Vit A, wolfberries etc. These are good for retina and macular vision. Start now if you want to have good healthy eyes and eyesight!

THANK YOU LORD ONCE AGAIN FOR HEALING ME!

Hi, can I ask how old you are? I am 17 and have had floaters since 17 Jan 2016, but the optometrist said I'm fine after an eye exam. I want to go to an ophthalmologist but they are private so cost money. There is a public service but you need a referral from a doctor.
Floaters can be harmless in some people but I don't know...
